Coffee is Showering
Good summer showers this season promise a rich coffee harvest for Kerala's Wayanad district, one of India's major coffee-growing areas.
The coffee plants are in full blossom now and growers expect a bumper harvest if other factors like "back-up" showers and monsoon rains too happen to be copious.
"In most coffee-growing areas in Wayanad, plants have been blessed with healthy flowers with the area receving good showers. But back-up showers monsoon rains are also decisive factors for a good crop", told leading planter and Wayanad Coffee Growers Association Secretary, Prasanth Rajesh.
Most coffee-growing areas including Coorg, Chikamagalore and Hassan in Karnataka and Gudallur in Tamil Nadu have also received good summer rains auguring well for coffee production this year, told Coffee Board Deputy Director.
