Coffee causes more than early-morning jitters

Coffee causes more than early-morning jitters
Having a cup of joe could lead to a heart attack within an hour of drinking it.

During a recent study, the risk of heart attack quadrupled among occasional coffee drinkers during the hour after they had the drink.

The study, however, did find regular and moderate coffee drinkers had a much lower risk.

Researchers also found people who were inactive, or had three or more risk factors for heart disease had an increased risk for heart attack after drinking coffee.

Doctors say this is no reason to panic!

Past studies have shown that coffee can lower the risk for diabetes and certain cancers.

Woman Wins Spilled Coffee Lawsuit

42-year-old Manhattan lawyer Alice Griffin is $310,000 richer after a court upheld a jury verdict from April that awarded her for being injured by hot coffee that fell on her foot when a Starbucks employee slid it across the counter too fast.

Griffin claimed her toes suffered nerve damage and were scalded in February 2004 after purchasing the coffee at a Starbucks on Seventh Avenue.

Although the coffee giant states it regrets any pain Griffin may have suffered from, they plan to appeal if a settlement more in their favor cannot be found.
