Coffee Board cautions planters about stem borers
Madikeri: The Coffee Board has urged coffee planters to fetch shade trees from social forestry department and plant them in their estates to avoid stem borers from attacking their plantations.
In a communique here, the Board informed planters that estates with less shade were suffering from Stem borer attack and it was likely to spread from one estate to another. Once it entered a coffee plant, replanting was the only alternative.
If planters did not take preventive measures, they would have to incur heavy loss.
